Description: Participants will engage in the five phases of focused note-taking and demonstrate how to effectively integrate appropriate note-taking strategies according to the content objectives in individual classrooms.
Session Outcomes: Understand and utilize the five phases of focused note taking to engage in higher learning and learn different formats that can be utilized. Utilize Costa’s Levels of Thinking as a basis for inquiry in content area classrooms in order to deepen participants’ levels of knowledge and comprehension. Construct questions and/or statements and assess their level using Costa’s Levels of Thinking in order to elevate levels of student inquiry and critical thinking in the classroom.
